Vision and Values BCC Executive Group

Vision:

• Aim to improve the health of the local population
• Aim to improve the patient experience
• Develop services in response to patient needs
• Ensure value for money
• Promote healthier lifestyles
• Aim to improve the quality of the local health and social services
• Promote models of healthcare provision that encourages team development and innovation

Values:

• Involve the patient[s] in the shaping of local health services
• Demonstrate integrity and fairness
• Demonstrate a shared sense of purpose
• Be prepared to reconsider decisions made
• Be accountable as a group for all decisions
• Strive for innovation in commissioning services that aim to address forms of suffering not well addressed by current models of care
• Give equal attention to service demand and service supply
• Make decisions based on sound evidence wherever possible
• Use a wide range of sources for information and evidence
• Help to facilitate communication between different professional groups
• Work collaboratively with the Local Authority
• Keep the public and fellow professionals well informed
• Listen to and be mindful of the views of others, whilst striving for collective independence of judgement and thinking
• Be aware of personal bias and declare any potential conflict of interest in decision making


• Strive to reduce health inequalities
• Work towards developing interventions that empower patients to be more independent and less reliant on healthcare services wherever possible
• Move care and services into communities and closer to the patient’s home, where appropriate
• Make use of the voluntary sector wherever possible
• Try to balance the tension between the needs of the individual with the needs of the community
• Endeavour to balance the tension between the industrial models of healthcare provision and the personal models so that each is used appropriately.
• Favour human solutions over bureaucratic solutions
